First Customers Implement New SQL*LIMS ®
Plug and Play Pharma Package

Introduced in September 2007, the new SQL*LIMS® Plug and Play Pharma Package promises to significantly reduce the cost and time of deployment. Developed specifically for the pharmaceutical industry, this pre-configured and validated LIMS package reduces up to 85% of the cost and as much as 75% of the time associated with deployment. Kern Pharma, S.L. and Eurofins AvTech Laboratories were two of the first organizations to implement the new SQL*LIMS Plug and Play Pharma Package also known as SQL*LIMS P4.

Kern Pharma, S.L. is a pharmaceutical development and manufacturing company located in Spain. Kern was attracted to the out-of-the-box functionality of SQL*LIMS P4 that allows it to be implemented with minimal reallocation of human resources away from their primary manufacturing responsibilities. “What makes SQL*LIMS P4 unique is that it arrives ready to deploy, with the operational functionality required for managing the pharmaceutical manufacturing process,” said Albert Almajano, IT project manager at Kern Pharma. “We expect that SQL*LIMS P4 will become an integral part of our ongoing efforts to improve efficiency and maintain regulatory compliance in our drug development and manufacturing operations.”

Eurofins AvTech Laboratories is a full-service Contract Research Organization (CRO) located in Kalamazoo, Michigan that serves the pharmaceutical industry. AvTech Laboratories selected the SQL*LIMS Plug and Play Pharma Package because it provides the functionality they require out-of-the-box. In addition, the validation of SQL*LIMS P4 allows for rapid implementation of the software with minimal reallocation of resources away from their primarily responsibilities. “We expect SQL*LIMS P4 to be an integral part of our ongoing efforts to improve laboratory efficiency in a way that adds value for our customer by helping us to reduce the cost of our services and assay turn-around times,” says Mary Elegert, Computer Validation Specialist at AvTech. “The primary use of SQL*LIMS P4 at AvTech will be for sample management—sample log-in, tracking, and disposition—stability study administration, inventory control, and data report generation. We also expect to be able to monitor laboratory operations using metrics extracted from the database.”

Pharmaceutical companies are too often spending excessive time and money on building and implementing business solutions that require skill sets or other cost-related resources that take away from their core business purpose. To help these customers, the SQL*LIMS team took all their knowledge and experience with LIMS and customers, and packaged it into a complete solution that significantly decreases the time and costs associated with LIMS deployments. This enables pharmaceutical companies to focus on what they do best, which is developing and manufacturing drugs.
